From Solid Cat: Not Impressed
Mahesh Savani
Mahesh Savani hosted a mass wedding for 111 couples near the city of Surat, India. Alfie Date
At 109 years old, Alfie Date is Australia's oldest man alive. But he's gaining his 15 minutes of fame, not for his age, but the fact that he knits sweaters for penguins. Seriously. They are very helpful when these birds are victims of oil spills. Oh, and they're super cute.

Ten-year-old primary school student, Mili Kasurinen, wants to head the council in Kemijarvi, Finland's northernmost town.

She's up against 18 adults for the job and says her application is as serious as all the others. Asked how a 10-year-old could balance work with education, Mili says she would go to school for half the day, then "run down to the town hall and start working hard there too". And as a part-time worker, she says she'd also accept half the advertised salary.

To Mili Kasurinen, for being politically active while still be a kid, we salute you. PAWS UP!

From Solid Cat: Turkey & Taxes
Larry Grossman and Buz Kohan
It was about the most unlikely pairing imaginable: gender-bending glam rocker David Bowie and stodgy crooner Bing Crosby. And yet, when the two got together to sing a duet on the 1977 TV special Bing Crosby's Merrie Olde Christmas, they made holiday magic.

However, Bowie balked at doing "Little Drummer Boy." Writers Larry Grossman and Buz Kohan hit upon the idea of introducing a counter melody to "Drummer Boy" that Bowie could sing while Crosby sang the traditional arrangement, and did so within an hour.

To Larry Grossman and Buz Kohan, for finding creativity and delivering it at the spur of the moment, we salute you. PAWS UP!

With his distinct costume of black and white, and in winter, a snow shovel, Polar Man became an icon on Iqaluit's streets, making it his mission to keep the town's playgrounds safe for children, and often shovelling walkways.
